Guidelines for Ordering Iodine Containing Products
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) enacted a final rule requiring the regulation of iodine as a List 1 chemical under the chemical regulatory provisions of the Controlled Substances Act (the “Act”). The Act requires that all manufacturers and distributors confirm the "proof of identity" of persons making regulated purchases of List 1 chemicals including iodine containing products. "Proof of identity" requires that positive identification and authorization status be established for all persons making regulated purchases of List 1 chemicals.
DEA Regulated Iodine Containing Products
Remel Inc. is prohibited from processing orders for iodine containing products unless an authorized agent on record places the order. All authorized purchasing agents must fill out the Proof of Identity form and submit it to Remel to ensure delivery of products containing iodine. Upon receipt by Remel, a password will be assigned and sent to the email address provided within one business day. This password, along with its associated authorized agent name, will be required when placing any orders for iodine containing products from Remel.
All orders require an authorized purchasing agent name and password to be processed. A special order form is available for convenience but is not required. Electronic (EDI) orders are not being accepted at this time for any Remel products containing iodine.
